This article covers the three different types of CBD Oil available, CBD Distillate, Isolate and Full spec. There is a mine field of information out there hopefully this will explain the differences and help you chose whats best for you.
What is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate is CBD in it’s purest form, everything is removed or filtered out of the hemp plant except the CBD during extraction. This leaves you with a pure CBD. Isolates have had all terpenes, and all other cannabinoids like THC, CBG, CBN, chlorophyll, lipids etc completely removed.
What is CBD Distillate?
CBD distillates are not just CBD, but contain a full range of different cannabinoids CBG, CBN, CBD-A etc, allowing many Cannabinoids to work together creating what’s known as the “entourage effect” . Distillate is still extracted from low THC Hemp plants so less than 0.2% THC present. The terpenes and other cannabinoids found in distillates are healthy and beneficial for the body. These oils are regarded as the ‘gold standard’ of CBD Oil.
What is Full Spectrum CBD?
Full spectrum CBD contains an array of cannabinoids, terpenes, chlorophyll and lipids basically the whole plant. However this type of oil has a bad taste some find it difficult to take. This method was the original extraction process before isolates and distillates were available.
CBD on its own can have some incredible healing properties, but there are over 80 other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant many of these have benefits to our ECS system also. While a CBD isolate is the isolated cannabidiol in its purest form, full spectrum CBD or CBD Distillate contain a range of Cannabinoids . Full spectrum oils, and distillates are recognised to have better healing and wellbeing properties, this is because of the benefits of the whole plant.
CBD isolate, full spectrum CBD, and CBD Distillate all have
their benefits.
What to Choose?
Now you know what CBD isolate, CBD distillate, and full spectrum CBD mean, but how do you choose which Oil to take?
Oils made from CBD Isolate are generally a bit cheaper than Full Spectrum or Distillate derived oils, this is simply because isolate is cheaper to manufacture than the others. Usually paired with Hemp seed oil or MCT as a carrier oil, these oils can vary in taste due to the carrier oil and are available in high strengths, but only contain CBD NOTHING ELSE
Full Spectrum oils have a full range of Cannabinoids and other plant matter present. There is a belief of something called the “entourage effect”. This is the belief that all of the cannabinoids from the whole plant work together and promote the healing process. Many people struggle with the plant-earthy like taste of full spectrum Oils. Many CBD producers are making flavoured full spectrum CBD oils to try and combat the bad taste.
CBD Distillate derived oils are regarded as the “gold standard” or “golden oil” partly for its clear Golden colour. Our Premium CBD oils are made from a broad spectrum refined distillate, then paired with MCT Fractionated coconut oil as a carrier. Distillate oils give you the benefit of the full spectrum oils and the “Entourage effect” without the bad taste. However there is still the hempy after taste, but most people do not mind the natural taste of hemp. Distillate derived oils are usually a bit more expensive, but in our opinion definitely worth it.
